Alvin Risk / Feed Me Sounds Tutorial in NI Massive
This is a truly awesome NI Massive video tutorial showing you how to create four very popular sounds being used by a lot of artists right now like Alvin Risk, Feed Me, Skrillex and many more.
Four tutorials is always better than one, especially when the sounds are professional!
YouTube user LeFuMusic, who always brings it, has really outdone himself with this one. He is sharing four different sounds in one very easy to follow and understand video tutorial here that everyone will benefit from, regardless of experience level or approach to sound design in general. As cool and complex as some of the sounds come across, all four are actually quite easy to make and he takes the time to explain exactly how each step is accomplished and how everything works along the way. All in all, a very good tutorial and one worth sharing with your friends!
The first sound is a single saw wavetable assigned to your main oscillator and the pitch is being modulated by two different LFos to achieve the signature development of the synth. He also introduces a small amount of phasing through the use of the pitch cutoff feature on the Voicing tab to widen things up a bit, as well as sets up the synth in monophon mode.
The second sound is again a saw wavetable on your main oscillator, but this time a simple envelope is assigned to modulate the pitch. A dimension expander is added to make the sound bigger and again he sets it up as a monophon instrument and activates the pitch cutoff and detunes it slightly to introduce some slight phasing and widen the sound.
The third sound featured in the video is pretty similar to the second sound, but you begin with a square wavetable and then modulate the pitch with an envelope. And with the exception of some simple EQ adjustments, this sound is basically complete at this point!
The fourth and final sound in this tutorial is actually utilizing two oscillators, both using a saw wavetable and both have their pitch being modulated by different envelopes. Again he sets this up as a monophon instrument and turns on the pitch cutoff and detunes it slightly. He then adds a tele tube amp, a dimension expander and turns on the EQ to round things out. And that completes the last sound!
